About us
We were born in 1977, in the heart of the popular neighborhood of Testaccio, at a time when there were only parochial bands, country or military. In our wake, over the years, they are also born many similar formations.
In our repertoire we support the South American rhythms in pieces by jazz music, pop music, "ethnic" and classic, along with original songs written specifically for this group, with an organic poised between that of a traditional band and that of a Great Orchestra.
Our director is Silverio Cortesi.
Our Band is more than just a music group: is an association organized on a democratic basis that continues to measure its interventions with constant civic engagement objectives, social and multicultural integration.

La banda SPMT, essendo nata nel 1977 come formazione didattico-rappresentativa della scuola, era quanto di più bizzarro, creativo e poco ortodosso ci si potesse immaginare rispetto all'organico tradizionale delle bande musicali.
Quell'organico era il risultato delle disponibilità presenti a scuola e quindi vedeva flauti dolci vicino ad un oboe, tanti sassofoni (di cui uno dipinto di blu), vicini a pochi clarinetti (di cui uno dipinto di bianco), qualche tromba, una ritmica variabile, nessun basso, a volte un corno, per un periodo un contrabbasso (!).
L'attuale organico è meno folcloristico e forse meno accattivante, ma si è molto arricchito ed è in grado di eseguire gran parte del repertorio scritto per banda anche se i musicisti della BSPMT hanno conservato tutto lo spirito originario e preferiscono, e danno il meglio, nei brani scritti appositamente per loro.
